Chief of Epidemiology

Dr Obaghe Edeghere attained his M.B. B.S (Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery) degree at the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria in 1999 and his MPH (Master of Public Health) from University of Cardiff, Wales, in 2002. He is a Consultant Epidemiologist in the Field Epidemiology Service of Public Health England and he is currently based in Birmingham, England. He is a medical doctor with specialist training and registration in Public Health Medicine and a Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health, United Kingdom.

Dr Edeghere has worked for several years in Public health with a focus on communicable diseases and health protection. His research interests include the development and evaluation of public health surveillance systems (particularly syndromic surveillance systems), antimicrobial resistance and healthcare associated infections, infectious disease outbreak investigations; viral Hepatitis, and vaccine preventable diseases.

Dr Edeghere is an accredited education supervisor for public health speciality and Field Epidemiology trainees; and has teaching responsibilities on post-graduate public health courses.
